Integrated planning is one of the key management priorities in most federal government organizations, yet very few departments/agencies have been able to implement integrated planning activities, tools and templates that meet the expectations of central agencies and policy centres while truly adding value internally.

In this two day workshop, participants will be led through a practical step-by-step approach and a set of best practices for linking strategic planning with business planning and operational planning. In the workshop you will be shown how to successfully cascade strategic plans down through business plans to the operational planning levels and how to link organization, program, project and individual plans within an integrating planning and reporting system and cycle.

You will leave the workshop with practical tools, techniques and templates for:

  • Linking the various levels and types of plans in a truly integrated way;
  • Investment plans;
  • Strategic, business and operational plans;
  • Organizational, program, project and individual plans;
  • Incorporating performance and risk information into the plans;
  • Costing your plans;
  • Managing your Sustaining and Change Agenda budgets within those plans; and
  • Monitoring the impacts of the objectives in those plans.

Your workshop leader is John Harrison. John is the Managing Partner of BMB Consulting Services Inc., an Ottawa-based consulting firm with associates in Halifax, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver.
