Most federal government executives and managers are being encouraged to embrace and inculcate a culture of innovation in their organizations and programs, but where are the tools and templates to enable this to practically take place?

In this two day workshop, federal government executives, managers and subject matter experts will be introduced to a set of practical design principles and implementation practices that are consistent with public and private sector policy guidance and best practices.

This step by step approach, led by integrated management thought leader John Harrison, will provide practical tips and approaches for:

  • Leading a culture of innovation that builds a "climate for action" that enables "risk smart" teams to focus on strengths and opportunities, while recognizing weaknesses and threats
  • Building collaborative mechanisms, protocols and disciplines that reinforce a sense of accountability and teamwork
  • Equipping people in organizations, programs and projects with the skills, authority and resources to satisfy performance expectations with due regard for risks
  • Finding ways to manage complexity where it needs to be managed, while identifying opportunities, where it makes sense, to pursue common sense solutions that reduce burden
  • Aligning horizontal and vertical accountabilities and performance and risk frameworks so that ongoing conversations take place within team-based collaborative frameworks that ensure honest review and adjustment against performance expectations

Your workshop leader is John Harrison. John is the Managing Partner of BMB Consulting Services Inc., an Ottawa-based consulting firm with associates in Halifax, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver.
